The summer isn't over yet! There's just enough time left for us to cram those final few summery reads into our TBRs. In fact, there's even enough time left to head to that perfect summer destination and reenact your favorite book (or do your best trying). But for those of us who have jobs and school looming closer every day, the summer is drawing to a rapid close. All that's left to do now is seek escapism in books. And do summery tags. This tag (created by JackEatsBooks on YouTube) might just be the perfect one. And without further ado, we are picking our summer-reminiscent reads.
1. Show a book with a Summery cover! (The one that showcases the sun, the beach, etc.)
Lexie: Unbearable Lightness by Portia deRossi. I'm almost 100% sure that no one has picked this cover
for this particular tag. For one thing, it's non-fiction. For another, not
enough people have read it (in my biased opinion). While the cover strikes me
as summery and warm - further accentuated by the fact that the book takes place
in California, with one trip to Australia - there is virtually nothing light or
summery about the contents. This is my all-time favorite non-fiction book, if
only for tackling a serious issue (of eating disorders) in a brutally honest
way and still wraps it up with a message of hope, love, recovery and a healthy
dose of self-acceptance.
Natalie: Picking a cover that I own already, I'm choosing Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson. The sun shining, sunglasses on, ice cream in hand, chilling out with friends - that's my summer (although living in the UK, it's not always sunny). I've yet to read it but this book is about a girl who's friend - who usually makes the plans - disappears and she decides to do everything on a to-do list she found, written by her missing friend. Morgan Matson is good at her summer books so there's no doubt that this will be a fantastic book!
2. Pick one fictional place that would be the perfect destination for your Summer Vacation!
Natalie: I'm not really a sun-bather, when I go on holiday, I tend to go on city breaks. I class my summers as sightseeing, eating ice cream, meeting new people, catching up on reading, experiencing new things. And that pretty much makes my fictional place Hogsmeade. I can see myself at the ice cream parlor,. watching the wizards and witches go by, a new bag full of spell books at my side. Incase you're unaware of where Hogsmeade is, pick up Harry Potter.
Lexie: This question is difficult because the place has to be fictional. If I
were slightly more twisted, I'd pick the arena from Catching Fire. Aside from deadly gasses, killer monkeys, raining
blood and rotating platforms, it's quite a summery place, isn't it?
But since we're still keeping the appearance of non-twistedness, my pick
is Pemberley from Pride and Prejudice.
The libraries, you guys. The libraries.
It's all I really have to say in the matter.
3. You're about to go on a flight to your Summer Vacation. But you want to read a book that lasts for the whole flight, so what novella do you choose
Lexie: My default answer to this question is Destroy Me (or, more specifically, the Unite Me bind-up). It's an impossibly relevant, impossibly
beautiful novel that turns a slightly manic, puzzling character into an
entirely relatable, entirely comprehensible three-dimensional one.
However, since I've already read Destroy
Me (about ten billion times), my pick would be The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas. This bind-up of five
novellas has nearly 500 pages! It's as long as any of the books in the Throne of Glass series! And given that
I'm beyond anxious to start the series, and also given that the novellas are
prequels to the story, that would be my choice for a perfect plane read.
Natalie: I'm not really a big novella reader so I don't have many options for this one. I'd probably pick Keeping Her by Cora Carmack, which is from Losing It, it's a fantastic and hilarious book about a girl trying to lose her virginity. I also love Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover, which is a spin-off book from Hopeless about two lovable side characters in that novel.
4. You have a case of Summertime Sadness. What happy book do you pick up to shine a smile on your face?
Natalie: This is a hilarious coming-of-age summer book that everyone has to read! Lobsters by Tom Ellen & Lucy Ivison really cheered me up and it's perfect if you get a case you get the summertime blues.
Lexie: Amy And Roger's Epic Detour! It's my latest contemporary obsession, I
was laughing consistently all the way through, and on top of it all - it's a
perfect summer read! A cross-country road trip along the scenic route is just my
idea of a perfect summer.
5. You're sitting at the beach all alone. Which fictional character would be your beach babe?
Lexie: Kellan (Thoughtless), Aaron (Shatter Me), Noah (The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer) or Daemon (Obsidian). Cheating? Hardly. What's to stop them all being on the
beach at the same time? ;)
Natalie: No doubt in my mind at all. Kellan Kyle. He's my ultimate book boyfriend so he'd lay quite happily by my side, help put on my sun cream and relax under thebeach parisol with me. Sigh...
6. To match your ice cream you want an icy cool sidekick! Which fictional sidekick do you pick?
Natalie: Hmmm sidekick...got to be Ron Weasley. Although the poor guy would have to be under a parasol because of his sensitive skin - I know people with red hair are sun-sensitive - and I'm not one to bake in the sun, so I'd join him. We can chill under there, talk about magic, Harry, people watch, and stuff our faces. Sorted.
Lexie: Kenji (Shatter Me). No
questions asked. I'd never stop laughing and he'd always be there to put me in
my place if I got a little too wrapped up in myself.

You're welcome, Devin. We loved your answers! Pretty much all of the books you mentioned we consider favorites, or something close to it, so we got to nod vigorously for a few minutes. ;)
DeleteIt may be a traumatic experience to the victim of an online investment fraud, however preventing & protecting oneself against any possible scams in the future involves the improvement of one’s financial knowledge & the safety protocols of the reliable asset recovery platform whom he/she has chosen . Become aware with basic tips that may help one avoid being conned, like attractively high and low risk assurance of high returns and high pressure to invest. In my time of despair & regrets,I had no guidance or article that suggested ‘hackers’ as a way out, so if I were you I’d consider this piece of information ‘vital’. In spite of the emotional & financial damage I battled with mentally, i still managed to make a legal report to the cryptocurrency regulatory authority within my jurisdiction; who then pointed me to “VALOR HACK RECOVERY TEAM ” direction as an off the book guaranteed solution to my report.

You’ll thank me later for the heads up…
The truth is, at the end of the day we fail to realize there’s more luck involved in our success and failure than many people are willing to admit. So it goes,I’m putting this out here because I expect my experience to serve as a light in any tunnel of fraud we investors face or find ourselves in, out here, in the course of doubling what we have saved up for a better retirement plan. In everything we do, lets endeavor to pay attention to the role we play in in our suffering too, either for accountability & resolution or just to ensure you recognize how your own thoughts and actions led you here/got you involved with fraud (as much as the actions of others) , so that each financial decisions you choose to make now or moving forward after your engagement with “VALOR HACK RECOVERY TEAM” is not influenced by greed, poverty, fear of missing or pure manipulation over your gullibility on any get rich quick schemes/Investments. Yes !, at first glance your current financial struggles appear to be the fault of someone or something else and that same someone or something else just may be why you lost your job or why your 980k worth of assets is locked/frozen & probably no longer controlled by you while in reality it was you all along. Take an honest look at your current financial situation and ask yourself, "How and why did this happen?" The purpose of analyzing what led you to this point is to be objective and learn as much as you can - not necessarily to place blame. Make it a habit to pause & question your actions each time you find yourself doing too much, don’t just stop there, evaluate every online engagements with any investment company or scheme that promises quick wealth starting now . Analyze every market ads & investment packages for signs of fraud during your onboarding process with the investment company/business you wish to jump on. Unrestricted transparency of any financial institutions or investment company should be your cue for safety over your assets & even when searching for asset recovery assistance your priority also should be legitimacy . Investment frauds are commonly identified by offers of tiny or no-risk investments, guaranteed returns, consistent profits, complicated methods, or unregistered securities and for those wondering what an investment scam is or how to to know for sure their investment is legitimate; I personally believe one can spot an investment scam from their deceptive strategy when they are targeting unsuspecting individuals, by luring them to part with their money with the promise of high returns, which is a widely known phrase amongst investors ( Returns that are too good to be true ). At first glance, these scams can look and sound completely legitimate. They often come armed with an array of convincing tools: sleek websites, glowing testimonials, and professional-grade marketing materials, all designed to instill trust and credibility. Gone are the days of easily spotted, amateurish attempts.
