If we have any secrets here at The Honest Bookclub, our love for the Thoughtless series isn't one of them. (And since we're Honest, obviously we have no secrets at all. Obviously.) If anyone were to peruse our Top 10 lists since the blog's inception, they'd find more than a few honorable mentions of the series.

Following Kiera and Kellan's complete story, their many highs and equally as many lows in the Thoughtless series, last year the author S.C. Stephens announced that she would be publishing two more novels in the series - Thoughtful, a retelling of the events from the first book from Kellan Kyle's perspective, and Untamed, which follows one of his bandmates, Griffin Hancock.

That was the day the countdown started.
Thanks to the amazing people at Forever Romance and the Little Brown Book Group as a whole, we were able to read Kellan's story early (much to our incredible delight). And just as we promised on Twitter, the full review and the blog tour for the book is finally here. And the book... well... what we thought of the book can only be summarized in caps lock and with lots of exclamation points.

Kiera Allen has already told us her story. Now it's time for Kellan to shed light on his side.

And as always, Kellan's side is something you don't want to miss out on.

Thoughtful is available for purchase as of today in physical and ebook form. Links are provided below.

We'd like to take a moment to thank the incredibly kind people at The Little Brown Book Group - especially Clara Diaz and, naturally, S.C. Stephens - for supplying the book and for allowing us to take part in the Thoughtful blog tour.

It's time for Kellan Kyle, the rockstar who captured our hearts in Thoughtless, to tell his side of the story.

The only place Kellan has ever felt at home is on stage. Gripping his guitar in a darkened bar, he can forget his painful past. These days his life revolves around his music and his band mates, and that's the way he likes it. And then one woman changes everything...

Kiera is the kind of girl Kellan has no business wanting - she's smart, sweet, and dating his best friend. Certain he could never be worthy of her love, he hides his growing attraction... until Kiera's own tormented heart hints that his feelings might not be one-sided. Now, no matter the consequences, Kellan is sure of one thing: he won't let Kiera go without a fight.

‘What happens when you find your soul mate at the worst possible time, in the least expected place? What if being with that person means doing the most wrong thing you've ever done? [It] leaves you thinking about these questions, the characters and their choices for days if not weeks after reading.’
- TAMMARA WEBBER, New York Times bestselling author on THOUGHTLESS

Thoughtless is easily and without question our favorite New Adult series here on The Honest Bookclub. We loved it individually, we loved it together. We've read and re-read it. Favorites have come and gone, but our favorite NA series never wavered. As such, it's safe to say we went into Thoughtful with incredibly high expectations.

And Thoughtful quite simply surpassed them all. (That thing way up there in the sky? That's Thoughtful. You can't see it? No wonder, it's too high up.)

But let us tug on the c(h)ord for a moment and lower it from the sky in an attempt to explain what we saw as we read it.

Kellan Kyle's perspective was always going to be more soulful and romantic than his significant other's. Kellan was the one who fell first, and the one who fell hard. If Kiera's perspective gave us gradual and lengthy, Kellan's gave us immediate and impactful. From the opening lines all to the famous first meeting, Kellan's weaves a heartbreaking story of a lifetime of abuse at the hands of his parents, of a city he both loves and hates due to the bitter memories, and of loneliness - deep, gut-wrenching solitude which he can't shake.

Until, that is, he meets his best friend's girlfriend, Kiera Allen. It's hard not to understand the immediate connection and even harder not to understand the love and the longing that ensue, when in this POV they are interspersed with memories of a lost childhood and of a desire to be someone's first choice.

Kellan, however, wasn't always necessarily Kiera's first choice. And in the lashings-out that ensued, it was hard to tell who was hurt the most - Denny (unknowingly), Kiera, Kellan himself, or us as we sobbed over the contents of the book. Because Kiera's darkest thoughts pale in comparison to Kellan's, and Kiera's ire with him in Thoughtless doesn't even come close to Kellan's ire with her in Thoughtful when the going gets tough. Pre-filter Kellan didn't censor his feelings one bit. The boy can drop f-bombs like it's nobody's business.

Thoughtful is quite literally a retelling - it encompasses the same events as Thoughtless, only now with a bit more insight into the lives (and the beginnings) of our favorite rockers, The D-Bags. The brief glimpses of the band dynamics were everything we could have hoped for, and more. Griffin, expectedly hilarious. Matt, expectedly ambitious. Evan, expectedly loyal (and then some!). If you're a big fan of those D-Bags as we are, then you'll be very pleased with the amount of time we got to spend with them.

And so with four loving friends and one loving (and elusive!) girl, from the hallway scene, through the espresso stand scene, to the rain scene, Kellan begins to learn what it means to be loved, and the lengths one sometimes has to go to in order to be chosen. And we begin to learn the intricacies of how do I read this while sobbing without accidentally drowning my Kindle?

Our parting advice is therefore as follows:
- read Thoughtless first (the whole series, trust us)
- love Kellan Kyle
- find a buddy to read this with
- don't wish love away, even when it hurts
- love Kellan Kyle
- embrace the angst
- stock up on tissues
- really, though, find a buddy to cry with when the emotional parts hit

- and, lastly, love Kellan Kyle.

As of today, the wait has officially come to an end! Thoughtful is now available for purchase! All who haven't already pre-ordered the copy may do so now (and believe us - you want to hear Kellan's side of this story)!
